Department Rules
Exhibitors must adhere to the General Rules for the Harford Fair listed here.
- To enter: go to www.harfordfair.com, click on the link and follow the instructions to enter online or use the Entry Blank below. Entry forms can also be requested from the Secretary’s Office by emailing [email protected] or calling 570-434-4300.
- Refer to the General Rules of the Harford Fair. Entrant agrees to hold harmless the Harford Agricultural Society, its Directors, members, volunteers, contractors, and agents for any damage or loss which might occur to him/her, or any entry which he/she chooses to bring to the Fairgrounds. The Harford Agricultural Society may at any time order the removal of any exhibit or part of the exhibit in bad taste, bad conditions or unfit to show.
- Send entry form to: Harford Agricultural Society, 485 Fair Hill Road, New Milford, PA 18834, no later than August 1.
Section 1: Paintings & Drawings
- Judging will be based on technical ability with chosen medium, along with originality of topic and composition.
- Maximum size for artwork is 24”x36” (w/o frame). Maximum for miniatures is 5”x3”.
- All paintings must be framed, with the exception of a stretched canvas. Use two eye screws and wire for hanging (except paintings on saw blade), OR IT WILL NOT BE JUDGED OR DISPLAYED.
- Wire taped to matting/frame is not acceptable. Exception – Section 1: Children’s exhibits can be framed or mounted on stiff backing with holes punched in each upper corner for hanging or wired for hanging. (no saw blade hangers)
- All artwork must have been painted by the exhibitor within the last 12 months.
- All artwork must be original and no giclee (copies). See Photography Section for AI Generated work.
- The Harford Agricultural Society may at any time order the removal of any exhibit or part of the exhibit in bad taste, bad conditions or unfit to show.
- Limit of ONE ITEM in each specific class. Attach tag to the upper left corner of artwork. Cover artist’s name for judging.
- Specify age of exhibitor: Child - age 13 and under, Youth - ages 14-18
Section 2: Photography
- Judging to be based on technicality of focus and exposure, composition, impact of image, creativity, uniqueness of photo, and quality of arrangement.
- Minimum single print size is 5”x7”, and maximum print size is 8”x12”.
- Matting only – not to exceed 12”x16”. All photos must be matted or mounted on stiff backing only. (NO FRAMES, POSTER BOARD, OR CONSTRUCTION PAPER).
- Photographs must be taken by exhibitor within the last 12 months.
- Limit of ONE ENTRY per class with a maximum of SIX (6) ENTRIES per exhibitor. Photo image can only be shown in one class.
- Attach tag to upper left corner of photo.
- Specify age of exhibitor: Child - age 13 and under, Youth - ages 14-18
- The Harford Agricultural Society may at any time order the removal of any exhibit or part of the exhibit in bad taste, bad conditions or unfit to show.
- No AI generated photos allowed except in the specified class listed in the Photography Section.
